Week of 1/11 - 1/17

This week went by pretty smoothly I would say. I have made good progress on my original work and believe that I am definitely getting somewhere with it. This is one of the many times I've been really excited about doing a project because I'm learning so much by doing it every day. This week, in our Incubator class, we covered the topics of marketing techniques and touched the surface of startup finances. We applied our learning by making marketing plans and writing how we are going to gather more customers through our methods of marketing. We also considered the cost that it would take to reach a certain amount of people and how far this method of marketing would reach customers, helping us take other variables into account. Even though I think my team did great work on our marketing plan, there will be plenty of revisions that we will have to make in the future to suit our startup the best. I want to make sure I have a proper marketing plan down before I present this at the final presentation to show how specific our marketing strategies are and their intended purpose. Finishing off the school week I wrote my first original work assessment and discussed our progress in more specific terms. I talked about the barriers we faced throughout the project and what we did to recover from them. Reflecting on this gave me this feeling of progress and it felt as if I just got one step closer to achieving my dream even though that step was quite small.
Next week will be packed with more work. Like I said in my other blogs, the work will always be greater as each week passes by and that means my effort must be greater. As an entrepreneur, I must focus on the risks I am taking rather than hoping for the best. Assessing risk will help me be successful with this project as well as many others I do in the future because I will know what to expect at the worst. This project will bring me up to my best but also kick me down to my worst. I will make that decision to stand back up, wipe off the dust, and continue climbing.
